"Our Bodies are Beautiful" Finished

I've finally finished this sculpture, after months of working and reworking it. I was going for a patina on copper style for the coating, I think it turned out alright. I'm just happy to have finally finished something.

Écorché V2

This is my second attempt at making the ecorche. My concept is to quickly block it out, and then go back and focus on one section at a time and try to make it more accurate. This is going to be a long-term project, as its very difficult and complicated.

Fireside Manifesto #6

Friends,

I guess that what I'm really trying to say with all of this is--I have heard some concepts over the years that make a lot of sense to me, and which have changed the way I see the world. There are some things that I think that everyone should hear about, or be reminded of now and then. I think that these concepts could help other people the way that they have helped me, and I these are the things that I would like to communicate with my sculpture. It is not that I think that sculpture is necessarily the best way to communicate these things, but, rather, I want to make sculptures and I think that this is a good way to go about it.

Finished Reclining Nude

I've finally bought a patina for this sculpture, and painted it on. I think it looks pretty good-- I'm thinking of using this product (Rub'n'Buff) on other sculptures now. The first pic is the same one that I posted on Nov. 14th, 2011. I just wanted to show the difference from when it came out of the kiln to now.

New Studio

I've moved out of my parent's basement, and into an apartment with an old friend. The place looks great, and I'm happy with how things have turned out. My room is nice and big, as you can see, and I've put down some canvas so that I can have a little studio. With all of the work of moving, I've only made moderate progress on my projects, but I'm really enjoying the metal sculpture class at the Torpedo Factory, and I've got some posts planned for this week and the next.
